Thousands of people are wanting to experience the effects of
drinking hydrogen water for its anti-oxidant properties. But, if you are
looking for a way to add hydrogen rich water
to your daily regimen, what’s the best method of making it, in terms of cost,
convenience and efficacy?
Here we’ll take you through four of the currently available options

Ready-made hydrogen water
can be purchased both in the US and the UK – at a price!
At the time of writing, Amazon UK is offering a single 11oz
pouch of hydrogen infused water for £4.61 (plus
£4.97 delivery), while in the US we have seen hydrogen
water on sale for $3 per can.
Price aside, the more serious problem with ready-made H2 water is the issue of gas loss in storage.
Hydrogen particles are very small and can escape through most types of
packaging and seals, so a product which has been in storage and transit for
several months can’t be guaranteed to contain beneficial amounts of hydrogen by
the time you drink it.
Even if you only want to drink hydrogen
water once per day, the weight and volume of carrying pouches and cans
around for, say, a short business trip or a week’s holiday, can quickly become
a problem. And of course, airlines won’t let you bring liquids with you in hand
luggage.
Expensive, inconvenient and likely ineffective, buying
ready-made H2 infused water is probably the
worst possible option.
Use a Hydrogen Water Stick
Hydrogen water sticks can
be purchased which consist of magnesium held inside a porous plastic tube. When
immersed in water for a period time – about 15 minutes – the magnesium reacts
with the water to give off hydrogen which is released into the water. However,
as well as taking a considerable amount of time to generate enough hydrogen to
be beneficial, it is not as simple as leaving the stick in the water while you
get on with another activity.
The water container needs to have an airtight seal, and be
filled almost to the top, to prevent the hydrogen escaping as fast as it is
generated. The stick also needs to be shaken multiple times during the 15
minutes to refresh the water in contact with the magnesium and keep the
reaction going. Finally, the stick needs to be thoroughly dried out after each
use and cleaned periodically to prevent shortening its active life (typically 6
months) – and there is no visual indication of when that is. So if your
cleaning and drying efforts have not been perfect, there could be a period of
time in which you are using an inactive stick.
While the sticks are relatively inexpensive (typical cost is
£35), some manufacturers tell you to use 2 or even 3 sticks at a time in order
to achieve the level of hydrogen required for health benefits.
All in all, this method is time consuming and fiddly at
best, or completely ineffective for periods of time.
Use a Hydrogen Water
Generator
There are a number of electrically powered hydrogen water machines available (also known as
ionization machines) which will generate hydrogen infused
water for you. Prices for these machines can vary from as little as £40,
to over a thousand pounds.
Of course, your first challenge is to select between the
many different machines on offer. One particular problem with such machines is
that many do not tell you what concentration of hydrogen they produce, making it
difficult to compare one generator with another.
If you find a good machine that you trust, it can certainly
be a cost-effective option for long term use – provided you can always be near
a power supply and don’t need to travel much. But if you are trying to get
regular doses of hydrogen water (3 times daily is recommended) then the
logistics of using your machine at work or on the road can make this very
difficult – not to mention the attention you will draw at work if you try to
set up your machine there!
Even if logistics aren’t an issue for you, maintenance might
be. A hydrogen water generator will
typically require regular cleaning and descaling, and filters will need to be
replaced periodically, for a cost. So while it’s certainly possible to find a
good hydrogen water generator, it is not the
most convenient choice for many people.
Use Molecular
Hydrogen Tablets
Molecular hydrogen tablets
are by far the most convenient way to generate a reliable dose of hydrogen rich water, quickly and easily. H2 Elite tablets consist of proprietary hydrogen

supply into a wallet or handbag, and of course there’s no problem putting them
in your cabin luggage if you plan to fly.
